  1. Friday, Sept. 25, 2009: 6:30 p.m.: Captains Meeting
Radio Disney Tent in Family Land (Parking lot adjacent to the Amphitheater), Leach Amphitheater
It is required that the team captain (or their designee) attend the captains' meeting. At this time you will receive race day instructions as well as your bag of commemorative team tee-shirts. 1st heat times will be available at the meeting. We anticipate that the meeting will last 30-60 minutes.

Immediately following the captains meeting is the 4th annual Dragonboat Festival Paddle Party. The paddle party is a chance for teams to gather, find their team tent, go over last minute instructions, and relax and enjoy a free concert provided by local band Road Trip.

    Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009: 1st Heat
All teams will need to arrive 45 minutes prior to their first scheduled heat. Upon arrival to the race site, all teams will need to report to the registration tent where wristbands will be distributed. All paddlers must check in to verify that they have a signed waiver on file. Please allow extra time for this process.

The opening ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m. and the first teams will be on the water at 9 a.m. It's an early start to a great day - make plans now to carpool, take the complimentary shuttle or take advantage of our free bike check!

  2. With only 6 weeks left, it's time to start thinking about race day! Here are some helpful tips and other information to get you started:

    1) Team Spirit: Up again for grabs this year is the team spirit award. If you love your team as much as you love dragon boat racing, show us! The Team Spirit Award gives you a chance to set the tone for what you represent as an organization. Whether sponsored or independent, show
your pride through t-shirts, tent site decorations (keep ‘em clean), team cheers (keep these clean too…there are children present) and anything else that your heart desires.

    2) Team Tents: This year, each team receives a 10 x 10 team tent and space on race day as part of their registration. These tents will be set up for you on Friday afternoon and taken down for you after the races - BYO tables and lawn chairs.

    3) Team Carry In Policy: The Oshkosh Dragonboat Race and Festival is a full day of excitement on the Fox River. Because we ask that our teams stay on the festival grounds for the duration, we allow some items to be brought in by teams to refuel and refresh throughout the day (see attached carry-in policy). Concessions are also available on the festival grounds. Please read this carefully and communicate the specifics with your teammates, especially:
The following carry-in items and equipment are not allowed:
    o Grills, slow-cookers, small-flames, turkey fryers, etc.
o Alcoholic beverages: Due to liquor license issues, alcoholic beverages may not be brought onto the premises. WI Beverages will be sold by licensed personnel at the festival grounds in accordance with WI state statutes.
    o RVs, Campers, or trailers
If you would like to purchase food or beverage tickets for your team, please contact me.

    4) Parking is very limited on the festival grounds and surrounding street. Please tell your team mates to leave plenty of time to find adequate parking and make their way to the race site. Here are some ideas to consider:
    • Carpool: Meet up with your teammates to drive together to the grounds.
    • Take the free shuttle from Kolf Sports Center at UW Oshkosh - the shuttle runs continuously from UW Oshkosh to the Leach Amphitheater all day.
    • Ride your bike: A complimentary bike check will be available on the festival grounds.

  6. I have been working my cardio for the past few weeks. I also went weight training last week Thursday. I might go again, but when I went running today I think I hurt my knee.
